President pushes measures to manage fuel prices

Colombo, March 19 (Daily Mirror) - A discussion on the economic challenges arising from the ongoing conflict situation in the Middle East and the forward measures required to address them was held this morning (19) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

According to the President’s Media Division, extensive attention was paid to the global energy crisis faced by all countries due to disruptions in energy supply networks amid the conflict, as well as to potential trends that may emerge in the global fuel market in the coming months.

Lengthy discussions were held on measures to manage fuel prices in a manner that would ensure the continuous supply of energy, minimise the impact on the Sri Lankan economy, and sustain the economic gains achieved in 2025, while also limiting economic contraction.

The President further instructed officials to explore the feasibility of implementing subsidy mechanisms for this purpose.
