Colombo, May 19 (Daily Mirror) - President Ranil Wickremesinghe has directed to resume the "Suraksha" student insurance programme, which was temporarily halted due to economic issues.

From the first week of June, all school students across the island will benefit from this insurance, the President's Media Division said.

Another visa scam. Why do school kids need subsided insurance when we have free health care? Kids are generally healthy. If they need to go abroad for urgent medical treatment, President's fund disburses money for it. Which private insurance company is going to profit from this? Even a fraction of premiums paid by government for this insurance cover will never be paid out by the insurance company for healthcare of students.

By the time then President elections comes by RW would have beaten the IMF in how funds are being disbursed. It is such cheap tricks that are played by useless politicians on poor and vulnerable voters that got us into this mess in the first place. The supposed saviour of the Sri Lanka economy RW, is resorting to things that will subsequently put us in the same situation as before leaving it to the younger generation to sort his mess out. Enough is enough.
