Power outages in Colombo 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12 and suburbs

Due to a failure in a power line at the Maradana substation, several areas within Colombo 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 12 and suburbs are currently experiencing a power outage, the Power and Energy Ministry said.

Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said the power outage was due to a cable explosion at the Maradana substation.

The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said a cable explosion occurred at the 132 KV substation at Kolonnawa. 

However, power has been restored to Colombo 4, 5 and 7 by now. (Chaturanga Pradeep Samarawickrama)
