Post-mortem of former SriLankan Airlines CEO to be conducted today

Colombo, May 09 (Daily Mirror) - The post-mortem examination of the former Chief Executive Officer of SriLankan Airlines, Kapila Chandrasena, is scheduled to take place today, May 9.

The procedure follows the discovery of his body yesterday morning, May 8, at a residence on Pedris Road in Kollupitiya.

Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena issued the order for the autopsy after considering submissions made by the Kollupitiya Police, who are currently investigating the circumstances of the death. The Magistrate directed the Director of the Colombo National Hospital to appoint a five-member Judicial Medical Committee to conduct the examination.

The court has further instructed the medical panel to submit a comprehensive report regarding the findings of the post-mortem by May 12.

Mr. Chandrasena, who was a central figure in investigations involving alleged bribery in the Airbus aircraft procurement deal, had recently been released on bail. However, a fresh warrant for his arrest had been issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate just a day prior to his death, following allegations that he had violated his bail conditions by producing unsuitable sureties.
