Colombo, January 24 (Daily Mirror)- Police opened fire at a car last night after its occupants failed to comply with multiple stop orders in the Grandpass area.

Police said officers from the Colombo North Crimes Division pursued the vehicle after it ignored a stop-and-search request.

During the incident, one person sustained minor injuries. Upon searching the car, police discovered illegal alcohol.

Two individuals were arrested in connection with the incident.

It is totally unnecessary to shoot. There are many other methods to apprehend and only when such fails one needs to resort to shooting. Clearly, police could have given chase or even noted the number plate of the vehicle and traced. These are abuse of Authority.
