A special police team has arrested a 37-year-old man from Maharagama, the first person to forcibly enter the Presidential Secretariat on July 9.
Police said that when the officers tried to stop this person from entering the Secretariat, he reportedly showed a knife and said that he would cut his throat and die on the spot if he was not allowed to enter.
Investigation revealed that the arrested suspect also a businessman, was an active member of the Galle Face protest site since the beginning of the Aragalaya.
Police said several others who entered the Secretariat forcibly had been identified and investigations are underway to arrest them as well.
