Police Sergeant killed while attempting to stop illegal sand transport

Colombo, March 28 (Daily Mirror) - A police sergeant died after being hit by a tractor that was illegally transporting sand.

The incident occurred in the Kodikamam area, where a police team was engaged in a road inspection operation.

When officers attempted to stop a tractor carrying sand, the driver accelerated the vehicle, rammed into the police officers, and fled the scene.

As a result of the collision, Police Sergeant Alfred lost his life.

The body of the deceased officer has been handed over to the Chavakachcheri Police Station.

Meanwhile, special police teams have been deployed to arrest the tractor driver responsible for the incident, and intensive investigations are underway.

Police version of what the tractor driver did with his tractor may not be exactly what happened causing the Sergeant's life. Police have total power in prosecutions and they always present in their narrative as " innocent " party engaged in their lawful duty, and the police side of what had happened is accepted without being challenged as there is no mechanism for investigating police claims. It is a Jaffna common sense that no man engaged his work either legal or illegal would deliberately kill a policeman to avoid capture and make matters extremely dangerous for him.

READ THE ARTICLE IT CLEARLY STATES THE DRIVER ACCELERATED THE VEHICLE RAMMED INTO THE POLICE OFFICERS AND FLED THE SCENE. IT IS OBVIOUSLY THE SAND WAS OBTAINED ILLEGALLY OR ELSE THERE IS NO REASON FOR THE TRACTOR TO ACCELERATE AND RAM INTO THE OFFICERS. HOPE THEY CATCH THIS GUY AND THROW HIM IN JAIL FOR A VERY LONG TIME TO STEW IN HIS CELL FOR YEARS SO HE FEELS THE PAIN THE POOR OFFICERS FAMILY AND LOVED ONES HAVE TO GO THROUGH. 20 YEARS AS IT WAS CLEARLY INTENTIONAL RECKLESS DECISION TO RAM INTO THE OFFICERS.
