‘Podi Lassie’ brought back to Sri Lanka



Colombo, Feb 27 (Daily Mirror) - Organised criminal and alleged drug trafficker Arumahandi Janith Madusankha de Silva, alias ‘Podi Lassie’, was brought back to Sri Lanka from India early this morning (27) by a special police team.

He was escorted to Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake aboard SriLankan Airlines flight UL-142, which arrived from Mumbai at 5:55 a.m.

‘Podi Lassie’ had fled to India by sea after being granted bail on December 9, 2024. Following diplomatic efforts and the intervention of Interpol, he was arrested by Indian security authorities in Mumbai in January 2025.

Upon arrival at the Katunayake Airport, he was taken under heavy security and handed over to the Elpitiya Divisional Criminal Investigation Division for further investigations. Pic by T.K.G. Kapila
