Plans are afoot to erect a temporary accessway at the Bambalapitiya railway station within 10 days removing the current flyover and constructing a new bridge within 5 months, the President's Media Division (PMD) said.

The State Development and Construction Corporation has been entrusted with the project, under the oversight of the Road Development Authority.

They should have a look at those steel fly overs. I bet a bottom that not one checks or maintains them. And they do not show cracks they simply collapse if not monitored and maintained.

Also want to know why the hell a nicely constructed bridge at Wellawatta Canal meeting -the sea-location at the Marine Drive was removed and now stuttering to do a new a bridge at the same location for the last 3 to 4 years? This has created a bottle neck at the Marine Drive and looks like some corrupt people at the higher ups who instructed to do so are making a lot of money. We need to know why?????RDA?

The authorities should not waste too much time on planning on this, it is evident that attention is needed immediately. Therefore, before a nasty incident take place firstly remove the delipidated existing structure.
