Party leaders have decided to ask both the President and Prime Minister to resign and however,Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has refused to resign.

Parliamentarian Rauff Hakeem said in a twitter post that one of the possibilities is for the Speaker to take over as temporary President according to the constitution.

"At Speaker’s Residence urgent Party Leader’s meeting. Several other Leaders including Prime Minister, Anura Kumara Dissanayake and M.A Sumanthiran participated via zoom," he tweeted. '

However, Speaker has decided to write to the President and the Prime Minister to resign as per overwhelming request.

Meanwhile, Party Leaders have decided to immediately agree on an all party government. This has a few glitches and several alternatives have been discussed. (Ajith Siriwardana)

The speaker is not a neutral person, he has demonstrated that he is biased to SLPP, hence he Will not carry out the peoples objectives only will be another agent to protect the Rajapkase regime. Definitely ot the right option. It should be Sarath Fonseka who is the most suitable person for the job right now. The international community has faith on his leadership.
