Parliament will convene on May 17 as scheduled: Speaker

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardhane said Parliamentary sessions would be convened on May 17 as scheduled.

Speaker's Office said the decision was taken at a party leaders' meeting at the Parliament complex this morning.

Party leaders stressed the need to convene Parliament to discuss the current situation in the country.
