Pakistan armed forces to airlift relief materials , rescue team to Sri Lanka

Pakistan has launched a major humanitarian operation to assist Sri Lanka following the severe flooding caused by Cyclone Ditwah, the Pakistan High Commission in Colombo said today (30).

According to the statement, the Government of Pakistan, through the Pakistan Armed Forces and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), has arranged multiple C-130 humanitarian flights from Noor Khan Air Base to Colombo. These aircraft will transport an Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) team, fully equipped field hospitals, and nearly 100 tons of emergency relief supplies.

The consignment includes rescue boats, de-watering pumps, life jackets, rechargeable lamps, family tents, blankets, quilts, bubble mats, mosquito nets, infant milk, dry rations, essential medicines, and trained sniffing dogs for search operations.

In addition, a Pakistan Navy Ship currently in Sri Lanka has already commenced humanitarian operations. Its onboard helicopter is actively supporting Sri Lankan forces by conducting rescue missions and delivering relief to inaccessible flood-hit areas.

The Pakistan High Commission said that it is working closely with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs to coordinate assistance efforts, reaffirming the longstanding ties of friendship between the two nations and Pakistan’s commitment to stand with Sri Lanka in moments of crisis.
