Ahead of a crucial week, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa visited Anuradhapura this morning to pay homage to the Jaya Sri Maha Bodhi.

Prime Minister also visited the Ruwanweli Maha Seya, one of the greatest historical Buddhist Monuments in Anuradhapura.

In Sri Lanka our monks have contributed to the downfall of our country. Whereas in Thailand, Thai constitutions, election laws, and political party laws have systematically excluded Buddhist monks from formal political participation. Monks cannot vote, stand for election, serve in elected offices, or be founders or members of political parties.
