Colombo, Dec. 23 (Daily Mirror) - The Ministry of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development announced that financial assistance has already been provided to industrialists affected by severe weather caused by Cyclone Ditwah, under the first phase of the government’s relief programme.
A total of Rs. 106.2 million has been released to support 531 industrial units, with each beneficiary receiving a one-time payment of Rs. 200,000 as preliminary aid to restore industries that were damaged or rendered inactive by the disaster.
The relief measures were approved as an immediate intervention by the Ministry to help revive affected businesses.
So far, the Ministry has identified nearly 10,000 industrialists across the country through a dedicated database recording enterprises fully or partially damaged by Cyclone Ditwah.
Funds for the first phase have been released to the District Secretaries in Gampaha, Colombo, Mannar, Batticaloa, Ampara, Trincomalee, Kegalle, Moneragala, Badulla, Polonnaruwa, Ratnapura, and Anuradhapura districts, following verification at the Divisional Secretariat Division level
