The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) faces an issue with providing new power supplies where more than 35,000 new supplies were on the waiting list as a result of the shortage of required equipment, State Minister Indika Anurudda said today.
He said more than 15,000 new three-phase connections were on the waiting list.
He said this in response to SLPP MP Samanpriya Herath. He said that people had faced serious issues as the CEB had not provided new electricity connections due to shortages.
The Minister said the CEB would be able to expedite the process of providing new connections as Letters of Credit (LCs) could be opened to procure the required apparatus and equipment such as transformers as IMF funds have been received. (Ajith Siriwardana)
