Over 30,000 families affected by adverse weather across country

Colombo, May 25 (Daily Mirror) - A total of 31,072 families have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions across the country, impacting nearly 79,983 individuals, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).

The DMC said 859 houses had sustained partial damage, while two houses were completely destroyed due to heavy rainfall and strong winds.

Authorities also confirmed one death linked to the adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, emergency response teams have been deployed to affected areas, with relief operations currently underway to assist displaced families and provide necessary support.
