Colombo, March 20 (Daily Mirror) - Some 2,764 persons have gone missing during the final stages of the civil war in 2009, but it is debatable, Minister of Justice Harshana Nanayakkara told Parliament today.

Responding to a question raised by MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam, the Minister said there is no accurate database on missing persons.

"Both sides have engaged in forced disappearances during the war and the government does not endorse such acts," he said.

Also, the Minister said the government is opposed to any international mechanisms to probe into disappearances.
