Former President Maithripala Sirisena said the six months given to him to pay the fine of Rs. 100 million over the Easter Sunday attack ruling was running out and appealed to his friends and well-wishers to give him whatever amount possible to pay the fine.

Speaking at a gathering in Baddegama, he said the Supreme Court imposed a fine of Rs. 100 million in connection with the Easter Sunday attacks and that three months had already gone and only three more months left to pay the fine.

He said he had neither looted nor bombed but he had to pay the fine just because some officials in his Government had overlooked their responsibilities.

“The Supreme Court ruling clearly says that no one had informed me of the intelligence information over the Easter Sunday attacks,” he said.

“I was ordered to pay Rs. 100 million, I neither looted nor bombed. Nowadays, I am collecting the money from my friends and well-wishers. If possible, give me whatever amount you can as three months have already passed from the 6 months’ time given to me to pay the fine” he added.

Former President said he was unaware what would happen, if he failed to pay the fine on time as he was not a legal expert.

“I don’t know whether I will be imprisoned or whether I have to be subject to any other court decision if I fail to pay the fine,” he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

Sell all your property that you; your brothers; children; friends and cohort have looted from the public fund and just give them back to the treasury of the government...that is only one way to settle this fund ..what about paying some from your pension fund or any other accumulated wealth ...Ranil must have learned a lesson from this now not loot or help any one looting the public money ..There is a simple logics in all this ...if you can't run the country don't dream for this office ..three is a lesson for all in this

His son has purchased the former Glass House building opposite the museum. That's was the rumors at that time. Also they have many luxurious cars with them. Then also there is a rumor that MS had taken 20 or 60 million to pardon the murderer of the Royal Park. This was done just before he left the presidency. There should be more which didn't come out in the open. He should be able to pay this as it is a peice of cake to him.

People have known for a long time that you have mental problems, but this begging comedy you are putting people through is unbearable. Don't make excuses that you weren't informed by your subordinates. If they didn't, it means you had no authority with your subordinates, so you were completely unfit for your office, which in turn means you're guilty. And don't claim that you don't have the 100 million. All you have to do is ask your brother, who benefited greatly from your time as President. But you could also have doctors declare you insane, which you are, then you just have to go to an insane asylum and not to prison.
