No vehicles provided to government MPs: PM

Parliament, January 23 (Daily Mirror) - The government has not provided vehicles to any ruling party MP except for visually impared MP Sugath Wasantha De Silva, Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya said today.

She told Parliament that a car has been provided to the MP by the Presidential Secreatariat while considering it a special need.

The Premier said this while responding to a question by MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake.

The Prime Minister said there are no issues for MPs or Ministers to use vehicles and added that Ministers and Deputy Ministers have obtained vehicles from the relevant Ministries.

Public should not provide vehicles to politicians. If they are unable to get their own vehicles they should keep away from politics!

MP Chamara Sampath Dassanayake must have been blind over the years when he failed to observe the vehicle fleet of earlier leaders and their cronies. Glad that he has got back his eye sight and the new political trends must be hurting his sight.

Yesterday they said new vehicles will be given, today they said that no vehicles have been given, these two statements although relates to future and past , will add to the list of deceptions by NPP , their main strength.

Are the ministry vehicles owned by individuals or is it public property? So what is she saying? Government will not issue permits to get their own vehicles... but allow them to exploit pubclic properties? For me it is all the same, confusing.
