There will be no scheduled power cuts tomorrow (11) and on Sunday (14), the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said

However, the PUCSL had approved one hour power cut for Friday (12) and Saturday (13).

Accordingly, the areas that come under A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, P, Q, R, S,T,U, V and W will experience one hour power cut from 6.00 pm to 9.00 pm. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Free trade zone never have power cuts, and all these years they got benefit of public by having cheaper electricity than it cost to make. Now all us consumers get higher prices, still subsidised. How about recoup all cost by hiking rates for businesses in Free Trade Zone. They have too many tax concession make the country go broke.

If considered the following area A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L, P, Q, R, S,T,U, V, the power cuts is still in practice in 90% of the geographical areas in Sri Lanka. Then the title NO-POWER CUTS will never suit to this news item.

Is it considered a "favour" to the citizens that there are no power cuts in certain days???!!! Authorities seem to have forgotten that it is their duty to provide uninterrupted power supply to the entire nation at all times! Though they announce that there are no power cuts on certain days or reduced to one hour a day, they cut half hour in the morning and half hour in the night and they claim those to be for "maintenance"!! What a pathetic country the "Pearl of the Indian Ocean" has become....

It is absurd to only announce that one hour power cut will be imposed between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Why cannot the times for each group be also indicated ?
