No decision has yet been taken to impose curfew on the 3rd of April, Senior Police Spokesman Ajith Rohana said.
Speaking at the press conference at the Department of Government Information on the Mirihana Protest, Senior DIG Rohana said that it has not been decided to impose curfew as of yet on the date.
Police imposed curfew in several areas in Colombo last night after a tense situation erupted during a protest near President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's residense in Mirihana. However, the curfew was lifted today at 5 am.
Meanwhile Ajith Rohana said that those arrested during the protest will be charged under the Penal Code and Public Properties Act and not under the PTA.
He said that three police teams, Colombo Crimes Division, CID and Western (North) Crimes Division are conducting investigations.
Ajith Rohana said that the property damage caused by the riot in Mirihana has been estimated at nearly Rs. 39 million. (Darshana Sanjeewa Balasuriya)
