No claimant for Rs.1mn yet, says three-wheeler federation

No three-wheeler driver has yet come forward to claim the Rs. one million cash reward offered with regard the external hard drive which contained MP Ranjan Ramanayake’s telephone recordings to the Police, the National Three-Wheeler Federation said.

The Lanka Self-Employed Professionals' National Three-Wheeler Federation earlier said it had decided to offer Rs.one million cash reward to the three-wheeler driver who handed over the external hard drive to the Police.

“Although few telephones calls received claiming the reward, we have not yet found an authentic person. The Police had not given information on the driver. We believe that the said driver is not a member of any three-wheeler driver’s association or federation,” the federation’s President Sunil Jayawardana said yesterday.

He said it was now becoming suspicious as to why anyone should refuse such a reward, if such, a three-wheeler driver existed. The Police earlier said that a three-wheeler driver from Battaramulla has handed over the hard drive to the Mirihana Police on January 2 after a passenger left it in his vehicle.

Following the examination of the hard drive, they found a large number of telephone recordings of MP Ranjan Ramanayake. Earlier, Jayawardana said they did not know about the driver’s identity, and if the driver proved his identity they would offer the reward publicly or clandestinely.
