New luxury tourism bus ‘Bustaurant’ launched in Dambulla

Colombo, Jan. 15 (Daily Mirror) - A new tourism venture called “Bustaurant,” offering all the facilities of a luxury bus, was launched today (15) to provide a unique travel experience for local and foreign tourists.

The project was initiated by a private entrepreneur and brought to life with the support of the Central Provincial Tourism Department, the Dambulla Municipal Council, the Pradeshiya Sabha, and other state institutions. It is the first initiative of its kind in the country.

The launch ceremony took place in Dambulla town, inaugurated by Central Provincial Governor Professor S. B. S. Abhayakoon, Deputy Minister of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs Gamagedara Dissanayake, and Matale District Parliamentarian Sunil Biyanwala.

Designed by a businessman from the Pelwehera area of Dambulla, the Basturan bus aims to give tourists a hotel-like experience while traveling along rural roads to historical and scenic sites, including Dambulla, Inamaluwa, Kibissa, Sigiriya, Pelwehera, and Pidurangala. The service also includes visits to local tanks and reservoirs, with food, drinks, and a variety of on-board facilities provided to travelers.

According to the Central Province Tourism Department, this innovative venture seeks to combine comfort, convenience, and cultural exploration, offering tourists a fully immersive travel experience.
