Colombo, March 30 (Daily Mirror) - The Office of the Commissioner General of Essential Services has issued new guidelines on the use of fuel and energy where instructions have been issued to conduct all night functions with the participation of more than 100 people and musical shows without obtaining electricity from the national grid.
According to the guidelines, action must be taken to switch off all air conditioners in all government and statutory institutions at 3 PM.
The private sector has also been requested to follow this practice.
Illuminated advertising boards and screens installed in various locations for commercial promotion must be switched off after 8 PM.
The guidelines also stated that suitable programmes must be implemented by the Local Government authorities to switch off street lights between 6 PM and 10 PM.
The guidelines have been issued to all Ministry Secretaries, all Provincial Chief Secretaries, all District Secretaries and all Heads of Statutory Bodies.
