Negombo Prison violence: Eight prison officers posthumously promoted

Colombo, July 10 (Daily Mirror) - The Department of Prisons has posthumously promoted the eight prison officers who were killed during the recent violence at the Negombo Prison.

According to the Department, Second-Class Jailer S.H.S. Chandrawansa has been promoted to the rank of First-Class Jailer, while the remaining prison guards who lost their lives have been promoted to the rank of Sergeant.

The Negombo Prison violence claimed the lives of eight prison officers and 21 inmates.
