Colombo, Dec.1 (Daily Mirror) - The naval and fishing communities are advised not to venture out to the sea areas extending from Mannar to Batticaloa via Kankesanthurai and Trincomalee until further notice, the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre of the Meteorology Department said.
They said the low-pressure area located over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards and intensified into a depression over southeast Bay of Bengal yesterday.
While issuing a notice, the department said the wind speed in the sea areas may increase up to 70 kmph off the coast extending from Mannar to Batticaloa via Kankesanthurai and Trincomalee.
Therefore, the naval and fishing communities are requested to be attentive to future forecasts issued by the Department in this regard.
