National progress requires collective effort and shared commitment: PM



Colombo, June 28 (Daily Mirror) - Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said that national progress requires collective effort and a shared commitment from all sectors of society.

She made these remarks while participating as the Chief Guest at the 48th Annual Sessions of the Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka (IIESL), held at the BMICH on June 27.

The Prime Minister said that the advancement and continuous improvement of higher education remain key responsibilities in building a knowledgeable, skilled and capable society.

She highlighted the important contribution of engineering professionals towards national development, noting that initiatives carried out by the IIESL would continue to empower its members to progress in their professional careers and contribute to the country’s development.

The event also saw the awarding of membership certificates to newly admitted members of the Institution of Incorporated Engineers, Sri Lanka by the Prime Minister.

The ceremony was attended by IIESL President Eng. M.P. Ananda Gunawardana, Vice Chancellor of the University of Vocational Technology Prof. K.M.G. Prasanna Premadasa, Chairman of the Engineering Council of Sri Lanka Eng. Dr. Tilak De Silva, council members, past presidents and other distinguished invitees.
