Ruling party MP Namal Rajapaksa said the collapse of the Gotabaya Rajapaksa government was engineered as part of a conspiracy hatched since the defeat of the LTTE to destabilize the county economically, socially and politically.

Making his remarks at a function, MP Rajapaksa, the nephew of former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, said, “we did not collapse. Our collapse was engineered. I do not approve of all decisions taken by then President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Yet, he took well-meaning decisions.”

In an apparent response to the move for the introduction of organic farming, he said former President Rajapaksa took that decision with good intentions.

“As the son of a farmer, he never intended to put farmers in difficulty with his decisions,” the MP said.

He hailed Mr. Rajapaksa’s COVID vaccination programme taken at a hard time after the closure of the country for two and half years.

This guy should stop talking like an idiot. So all the wrong policy decisions were not by him or the family but a was an outcome of a conspiracy? The ban on fertilizer by the son of a farmer, he never intended to put farmers in difficulty , but it certainly did and screwed up our agricultural sector and export earnings too. The result we have today is because GR looked after those business persons close to him that brought him to power at the expense of the total collapse of the economy. The fiscal decisions that were made by GR speaks for itself. If conspiracy theories are your families comeback strategy the people will not be fooled this time around.

SHORT AND SWEET, IT'S TOM BUFFOONERY!! even so called Revolters and Terrorists never took detrimental decisions and acted! They all had very good intentions, which turned out to be really, outcomes of utterly bad so much so, they were denounced by all and they paid the PRICE!!?? No decision is weighted or evaluated based on intentions bou on entirely OUTCOMES!? That's Why people are angry and we say your Uncle "FAILED W/O RESERVATION"!!?? Intentions cannot be real, is only virtual!!!??? What does it mean good intentions, everyone in this world think that they are right always,since your knowledge is limited to foresee consequences of not only putting the farmers in difficulty, but pushing the entire nation to poverty, which we are experiencing today, families committing suicides , innocent being killed and robbed, mothers and children begging on the streets, is mainly due to the fertiliser policy, our nation is not a play thing for trials and errors.

The unprecedented descent of Sri Lanka to state bankruptcy is solely due to the irresponsible, criminal policy of the Rajapaksa brothers, who primarily served their own interests and not the interests and services of the people and the country! The level of corruption and abuse of entrusted power has never been greater in Sri Lanka than during the years of this family clan's rule! The people of Sri Lanka will, I am sure, no longer fall for Namal's deceptive manoeuvres, whitewashing and promises and statements aimed at maintaining power! With the Rajapaksas, wherever they are politically active, no political and economic change for the better can be realized in Sri Lanka!
