NZ citizens advised to avoid protests, Demos in SL

New Zealanders who are residing in Sri Lanka have been advised to avoid protest and demonstration sites, as even those intended to be peaceful have the potential to turn violent.

New Zealand High Commission in Sri Lanka also advised them to monitor local media for developments and comply with instructions, including curfews, issued by local authorities.

"The economic situation continues to deteriorate, leading to shortages of basic necessities such as fuel and some food products. Rationing of electricity has resulted in lengthy power outages, which will likely continue for some time," the New Zealand High Commissioner to Sri Lanka tweeted.
