NPP reaches understanding with CWC to form local administration in Nuwara-Eliya

Colombo, June 17 (Daily Mirror) - The ruling National People's Power ( NPP) and the Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) have reached an understanding to form the local administration in the Nuwara- Eliya district in places where no single party has a clear majority.

CWC President Senthil Thondaman told the Daily Mirror that his party has secured control of the Kotagala and Agarapatana Pradeshiya Sabhas with the support of the NPP.

He said his party will support the NPP to form an administration in places in the Nuwara Eliya District where it falls short of members, according to the people's mandate.

Obviously it is a wise decision taken by the CWC to extend its support to form the councils for for the NPP specially the upcountry areas where the NPP was unable to secure the absolute majority. Most of the upcountry areas are consisted of the tea estates where the communities are living without even basic needs. Both the NPP and the CWC are working together there will be a possible chance to uplift the basic needs of the estate communities

Absolutely. Now that elections are over, NPP must work with others to uplift the country, as they hold the purse strings. Forget petty party politics till the next general elections and work together for the benefit of poor people who are suffering.

The CWC is once again up to its time tested skills of using its slender strength to gain (perhaps undue) advantages. If it is for the welfare of these downtrodden masses who have been denied even their basic necessities for over two centuries it is all very well. But will these so-called leader only look after their own interests? Where, or where is that young lady, who spoke so vociferously about the rights of these estate workers?

CWC the greatest oscillator's have done it again. The no of parties they have aligned to get power and enjoy benefits for their leaders is unprecedented. The Thondaman family from timely memorial are switch hitters moving from supporting one party to another whilst taxing and collecting subscriptions from estate workers. A party with no principles.

If CWC is a party without principals, which they have always been, the same could be said for NPP who seems to be going down the same road as every other party. NO PRINCIPLES, NO SHAME, ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING FOR POWER. Things will become worse in the future once they start to enjoy the many lucrative deals they will be tempted with. "System Change"??? Never.
