The National People's Power (NPP) has been unable to secure an absolute majority at the Colombo Municipal Council, the largest municipality of Sri Lanka, according to a post on X by Opposition MP Mujibur Rahman.

It means the Opposition, if united, can bar the NPP from taking charge of the municipality.

A reason is they talk too much with too less work! There was a boast that Myna will be chased out or charge LKR30000 less the rent of 45 lakshs! Is Myna paying? No? What about the Pin benefits paid for all Horas? Kappam Thunga is still enjoying the freedom so as Myna, pina and Pambaya and Go GoRa! What about that Hora Dr Ranawaka, the former speaker! He is still looking for his PhD certificate given to his grand mother! People are losing the confidence a little by little! They told stolen money will be revered soon! Still no action!

Opposition is not united in Parliament and in the Municipality there will not be any differenceIf any opposition party supports NPP, well they can take charge of the Municipality

CMC is corrupt and the Ministry is not taking any action against the UDA which is corrupt and has power over the CMC. Hence people in Colombo cannot trust the NPP.
