NPP MP blames police, Opposition for spreading falsehood

By Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana

Colombo, Dec. 19 (Daily Mirror) - National People's Power (NPP) MP Shantha Pathmakumara today accused the police and the Opposition of spreading falsehoods about him and thus violating his parliamentary privileges.

The MP accused Opposition MP Ajith P. Perera of spreading falsehoods.

"Ajith P. Perera, who calls himself a counsel, has spread false information on me over the media. I would like the Speaker to summon him and others responsible before Privilege Committee," he said.

MP Pathmakumara was alleged to have engaged in an illegal plantation, referred to as 'mal wagawa' in local jargon.

However, Pathmakumara has repeatedly denied the allegation during the past few weeks.
