Missing service weapon of Yatiyantota Traffic OIC recovered from Kelani River

Colombo, July 5 (Daily Mirror) - The official service firearm belonging to the Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of the Traffic Branch of the Yatiyantota Police, which had been reported missing, has been recovered from the Kelani River.

According to the police, a stock of ammunition was also retrieved from the river along with the weapon.

The Traffic OIC was arrested on June 28 on charges of failing to properly hand over his official service firearm and 10 rounds of ammunition. Following his arrest, he was produced before the Ruwanwella Magistrate's Court and subsequently remanded in custody.
