Rs17500 is about 600 a day approximately. What can a person do with that. Be practical in fixing the salaries/minimum wage

If they would work for plantation sector, specially in tea estates, they earn much more than this. Also their daily expenses are much less and save more. But our new generation is lazy and don't want to get their hands dirty.

I thought a noble prize winning economist said Rs.7500 is enough for a month
sunil Tuesday, 26 March 2024 02:34 PM
Why gloves only for poor Abans road cleaners? What about CMC cleaners
Wiraj Tuesday, 26 March 2024 02:37 PM
Is this for a week?

As you sow, so shall you reap. Is a minister and a parliament so blind to the suffering of its people. Some of those road sweepers toiling in the blazing sun are skin and bone. If the company doesn’t want to pay them a living wage, at least, provide them with a nutritious meal at least once a day. Is it so hard for the Sri Lankan rich to see the suffering of their own people ? What a truly, godforsaken country !

To keep increasing salaries to meet the rising cost of everything will lead to financial chaos and therefore will be meaningless. Where would these increases end? Instead, put every ounce of effort, skill and management to increase the PRODUCTION by aid and investment. The more goods and services a society has at low cost, less money you need to spend for them.

Jokers! That money is not enough to settle your bills! Be practical! At least be truthful to votes you received!
Gt Tuesday, 26 March 2024 06:28 PM
Enough to feed themselves? What about their families, minimum wage should be calculated on cost of living

Sam S., "But OUR NEW GENERATION IS LAZY and don't want to get their hands dirty" Why talk about, “OUR NEW GENERATION IS LAZY”, it has been ‘Our Great Renown Heritage’!!???? If NOT for that signature quality of our Natives back in Early 19th century, we wouldn’t have had the “Great Trail” of Indentured Labour, through Mannar, Matale and yonder Central Highlands, Nuwara Eliya, Citadel of then English and Scottish Sahibs!!!??? Why cry about “Spilt Milk”!!?? It was well manifest and Executed with Sri Lankan Agility Perfection, Unsurpassed on the Never, Never!!???? What for the telling??? Still unable to understand or able to define, exemplify “POL BOOR__A”!? WONDER WHY!!??

Leave aside, Abans, sans “Mac-A-Donalds”, Road Cleaners, CMC et all aside for a moment and let's get the focus of attention to 'CBSL and Governor Nandalal and Monetary Board Decision on CBSL employee's Salary' and proposed Increases from March 2024!!?? The "Peon" as per that schedule was going to be elevated to SLRs 15,755.00, if my memory serves me right!? Now they propose, not only peons, STREET CLEANERS be elevated above them (Peons in CBSL)!? Our uneducated (most sans GCE O/Level, with Grade 5/6 only) try to 'Goad' the learned 'Governor and Monetary Board' at ‘COPA/COPF’ to "let go of the Salary Increase" implementation as proposed, in 03/2024 POSTPONE IMPLEMENTATION for later date!? Was the protest Inquiry, “SONG
