Colombo, May 05 (Daily Mirror) -
The Matara District General Hospital introduced its latest addition, a cutting-edge CT Scanner, worth Rs. 200 million, which is poised to help reduce the backlog of patients.
The unveiling ceremony, held yesterday (04), was graced by the presence of guests, including Minister of Health and Industry, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, and Secretary of Health, Dr. Palitha Mahipala.
Capable of conducting 40 to 50 CT Scan tests daily, with the potential for expanded capacity in the future, it promises to significantly reduce the backlog of patients awaiting CT Scanner examinations.
The installation of this state-of-the-art machine marks a crucial upgrade from the hospital's previous CT Scanner, which had served for 17 years.
The older scanner, utilizing recycled parts from hospitals in Batticaloa and Anuradhapura, had been operating at its limits, conducting approximately 50 tests daily for the past two years.
Trim Govnt. Expenditures for New healthcare Equipments Sunday, 05 May 2024 09:09 PM
Cut down on government expenditure so that more healthcare facilities can be replaced or upgraded. Perks for politicians and government officials are excessive. Trim the senior officers of the Tri Forces will be another avenue to save cost. Having only simple and basic equipment which are mostly old and due for recycling, there is no reason in having so many high ranking officers. Hope the new government will do the needful accordingly.
