Mangrove guardian project launched in Chankanai



Colombo, May 22 (Daily Mirror) - The Mangrove Guardian Project, funded by ChildFund Sri Lanka and implemented by Save a Life, was officially launched at the Chankanai Divisional Secretariat with the participation of senior government officials, stakeholders, and members of the Arali South community.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Government Agent of Jaffna, ChildFund Sri Lanka Country Director, Divisional Secretary of Chankanai, District Forest Officer, and other officials.

The project aims to strengthen mangrove conservation, raise environmental awareness, and promote community-led protection of fragile coastal ecosystems.

Officials underscored the vital role of mangroves in protecting coastlines, preserving biodiversity, and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

The initiative marks a collaborative push toward sustainable environmental conservation through active community engagement.
