Man nabbed while impersonating coordinating secretary to Public Security Minister

An individual who had impersonated the coordinating secretary to the Public Security Minister was arrested by CID officials in Chilaw.

The suspect was arrested last Wednesday at Kottaramulla in Chilaw following a complaint lodged with the CID over an incident where he had threatened a Ministry official over the phone on April 18.

The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Warnakulasuriya Nilanga Manoj Fernando of Baduwatte Road, Ihala Kottaramulla.

The investigating officials suspect that he had influenced some police personnel on previous occasions as well while impersonating the coordinating secretary to the Minister.

He was produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court and released on a personal bail of Rs. 100,000 after admitting the offence and agreeing to compromise.
