Man arrested with narcotics in Negombo

Colombo, January. 10 (Daily Mirror) - A 32-year-old man from Negombo was taken into custody after police uncovered a cache of narcotics during a search of a suspicious vehicle near the Periyamulla–Eththukala railway crossing.

The arrest was carried out in the early hours of yesterday (09) by officers from the Negombo Division Criminal Investigation Unit while on routine crime prevention patrol.

Police said the initial vehicle inspection led to the seizure of 10 grams of cannabis, one gram of cocaine, and 100 narcotic pills found in the suspect’s possession.

Further inquiries prompted a search of the suspect’s place of stay, where officers recovered an additional 29.24 grams of Kush cannabis along with 2.23 grams of an unidentified narcotic substance. Investigations are ongoing.
