Man arrested in Mount Lavinia with ice drugs worth over Rs. 800,000

Colombo, February 21 (Daily Mirror) - A 33-year-old man from Ratmalana was arrested in the Soysapura area of Mount Lavinia while transporting ice drugs valued at over Rs. 800,000. Police recovered 50 grams of the substance and Rs. 44,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking.

The arrest followed a tip-off received by the Officer-in-Charge of the Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau, Chief Inspector Gamage Nilantha. Investigations revealed that Sudharaka Devapriya Peiris, a suspected large-scale drug trafficker currently abroad, is the arrested suspect’s brother-in-law.

Police said the drugs were being distributed domestically by the suspect, and further investigations are ongoing by the Mount Lavinia Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau
