COLOMBO (Daily Mirror) - The usual tea party which is held for MPs and other invitees after the second reading of the budget was not held this year. Instead, a late lunch was hosted for them because the presentation of the budget began at 12 noon.
MP Dr. Harsha de Silva told the Daily Mirror that almost all MPs participated at the lunch at the member’s canteen.
“It was only lunch and there was no party,” he said.
Most of the MPs had a late lunch following the budget presentation.

Having lunch at the parliament is great news. I am sure all MPS indulge the free lunch. Now I can see why all MPS are over weight and unfit . I think the parliament needs to have a GYM and personal trainers and nutritionists . The doctors can monitor all the MPS movements. So hopefully we will have healthy MPS to run the country

Even maids at some homes are given a decent meal for the work they do. But we as citizens want our top most public servants to pay for their own lunch after only paying them 300 dollars a month. we also compare them and expect delivery from them to make Sri Lanka like Singapore who pays their ministers 2 million dollars. our attitude also must change along with the system changes

As our country is passing thru a very difficult time, it is appropriate MPs and other staff members of parliament should bring their tea snack and lunch parcels from their homes in stead of gulping down public money for their fun.. DISCOUNTED LUNCH AND CANTEEN FACILITIES IN PARLIAMENT SHOULD BE STOPPED. JVP CAN SET AN EXAMPLE.

How can you people do this type of things? Hosting lunches at tax payers money??????? THERE ARE FAMILIES NOT HAVING MONEY TO HAVE A SINGLE MEAL FOR THE DAY. VERY SAD SIYUATION??????
Lal. Fernando. Tuesday, 14 November 2023 04:02 AM
Dear Dr. Harsha, why did not you all agree not to celebrate with a lunch, instead have a cup of tea with a biscuit, and distribute the cost of a lunch amongst the, poor families not been able to have a single meal?????????????????
