Lankan arriving from India nabbed with 34kgs of narcotics pills used by heroin addicts

The Police Narcotics Bureau officers at Katunayake airport arrested a suspect arriving from India while in possession of over 60,000 narcotic pills weighing 34 kgs suspected to be used as an alternative by heroin addicts.

Police said the 40-year-old suspect, a resident of Digana was arrested at the arrival terminal of the BIA following a tip-off.

He had 60,460 PREGAB 150 mg pills hidden inside hair colouring packages.

The suspect has been detained for seven days after being produced before the Negombo Magistrate's Court. (DSB)
