Landslide warning on seven districts including Colombo

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) today issued early warnings of possible landslides in seven districts including Colombo, the Meteorology Department said.

They said the landslide warning was for susceptible areas in the Colombo, Galle, Kandy, Hambantota, Kalutara, Kegalle, Ratnapura and Matara districts.

Accordingly, the Yellow and Amber colour warnings of level one and two for landslides were issued for the respective areas.

Hence, the NBRO requests the people living in landslide prone areas to pay attention to the pre-landslide signs like the development of cracks on the ground, deepening of existing cracks and ground subsidence.
