Colombo, July 14 (Daily Mirror) - The Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation’s (SLBC) Kotmale S.L.B. Media Academy will complete 10 years of service today (July 15), having trained nearly 1,000 students through its radio education programmes.
According to the station officer in charge of the academy, Kapila Kumara Arathtana, the institution has conducted 54 residential media courses since its establishment.
Students from across Sri Lanka representing various fields, including mass communication undergraduates and communication professionals from government and non-government organisations, have participated in the programmes.
The courses are conducted with the participation of some of Sri Lanka’s most experienced radio communicators as lecturers and trainers.
The Kotmale Radio Academy is currently the only residential media training institution in Sri Lanka dedicated to radio studies. Its courses are designed under the supervision of SLBC Chairman Dr. Uditha Gayashan.
Operating from the former Kotmale Community Radio Unit, the academy functions under the theme “For a good media culture.”
