Kilinochchi records highest rainfall in 24 hours

The Kilinochchi District has reported the highest rainfall in the country over the past 24 hours, according to the Disaster Management Centre (DMC).

The DMC said that the Pokkanai area in Kilinochchi received 274 mm of rain yesterday (29), marking the highest recorded rainfall for the period.

Significant rainfall was also reported from the Mannar District, with the Portakani area receiving 210 mm and Madu recording 193 mm.

Meanwhile, Dunamalai Wattha in the Kegalle District received 181 mm, and Kirindiwela in the Gampaha District recorded 121 mm of rainfall.
