Key roads in Kandy and Mahiyangana closed due to landslide risk

Colombo, January 24 (Daily Mirror) - The Road Development Authority (RDA) announced the indefinite closure of several key roads in the Kandy and Mahiyangana areas due to adverse weather conditions.

The roads affected are:  

Thannekumbura – Rikillagaskada - Ragala  

Kandy – Mahiyangana - Padiyathalawa  

Rockslides have blocked these roads making them unsafe for travel. The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) said it is dangerous to clear the fallen rocks without first removing unstable rocks above the road.  

Drivers are advised to take alternate routes and stay updated on road conditions.
