Colombo, March 27 (Daily Mirror)- Former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella's daughter Chamithri Rambukwella lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) today claiming that her father's human rights have been violated due to his arbitrary arrest.

She told reporters outside the HRCSL that according to the legal principle of presumption of innocence, any person accused of any crime is considered innocent until proven guilty.

She said in normal practice, suspects are arrested only after concluding the investigations.

She said she hopes that the HRCSL will look into her complaint and mete out justice.

why not you speak about the human rights of people who lost their eye sight by using the substandard medicine brought by your father to earn money. Dont eat food brought by using such money as you too may go blind.

The peoples human rights have been violated because of inferior medicines being purchased and peoples lives have been lost due to these medicines and have left weeping spouses, children, parents whose pain is worse than even lifetime in jail. The rogues whatever their social and family background should be dealt with the most severe punishment as they want to enjoy life with corrupt money at the expense of poor people. God and society will never forgive this heinous crime. Shame on the families of the rogues

    Banda Wednesday, 27 March 2024 04:03 PM

Oh. yes. Of course, people in this country have violated his rights. He never did. First of all, you must tell people how you got your position in foreign services. Then you have to disclose how you got your foreign assets. Then people may know what your father has done to poor people with his parasitic political behavior.Thugs and corrupted murderers have no place in the future world.

What about the human rights of those who have gone blind and those who lost their lives due to the very low quality drugs, said to have been imported under the guidance of your father? Some of these so called drugs were just coloured water.

    Gamini Wednesday, 27 March 2024 04:23 PM

OMG human rights of a person who cared two hoots of the lives of the people when importing sub standard drugs

    Rajitha Wednesday, 27 March 2024 04:33 PM

This person does not know the meaning and application of presumption of innocence. Not surprising though.

Peeping Tom claims his right to peep Wednesday, 27 March 2024 04:38 PM

Even after falling from window edge, he claimed that he has the peeping right into a ladies room. It runs in the family to be immune to their share of crime.

Yes innocent till proven guilty, but when there is overwhelming indications showing the involvement of an accused in an illegality, the Magistrate may have the accused remanded until further investigations are complete. This is because (a) if the accused is powerful she/he can tamper with remaining evidence and use various forms of influence (b) the accused may go missing knowing his / her imminent wrong doing. So baby girl, try to visit all those homes who lost their beloved ones due to your father's greediness and be glad you and your family are not one of them.

Her bank accounts should be checked

Regrettably the law could not apply to your pariah father for he thought and operated above the law. Now the law has caught up with him dear. He needs to take his turn before a judge and await his fate for ALL what he did since entering politics.

You got it wrong daughter, while the case is being investigated, in order avoid interfering and influencing the case with the witnesses as well as investigators suspects must be isolated from the general public. This is a world wide protocol. Not only for your Dad.

    kumar Wednesday, 27 March 2024 07:31 PM

Based on reliable evidence, the court ordered Keheliya under arrest and remanded him. You ought to hire a lawyer to challenge the decision if you think the arrest was made arbitrarily. Taking the court to task by going to HRCSL seems a bit childish. As you also mentioned, the court should release all suspects, including underworld figures and notorious criminals, and carry out investigations if the suspects are only arrested after the investigations have been concluded.

The family should be very very fortunate, that none of the patients who were affected didn't go before the HRCSL. I believe HRCSL will act impartially and also educate the lady on the serious allegations her corrupt father
