Kaushalya Navaratne, the new BASL President

Senior Attorney Kaushalya Navaratne assumed duties as the 27th President of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka (BASL).

He succeeds former BASL President Attorney-at-Law Saliya Pieris PC whose tenure concluded on Saturday.

Attorney Kaushalya Navaratne was elected the BASL President on January 11.

Navaratne’s induction took place at the 49th Convocation of the BASL, held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) yesterday afternoon.

Attorney General Sanjaya Rajaratnam was also present at the event.

Speaking at the event, the new BASL President assured that the BASL will continue to function independently.

Hope is not like previous one who condemn Aragalaya and utterly lost public faith with BASL. However, since all this lawyer mafia work together until new one is any better safer to expect BASL are still anti-freedom, pro-Military control group.

If you analyse since SL independence it was bunch of lawyers turned politicians that ruined this country!! Some of the culprits are SWRD, JR, Ranil, MR, Tyronne Fernando, Lalith Athulathmudali, Marapana, Choksy, Dilan Perera, Nimal Siripala de Silva And there's a long list!! You can also include Lakshman Kiriella, Jeyaraj Fernandopulle, Rauff Hakeem, Sumanthiran, and the Musthafas.
