Kalatuwawa reservoir spills after five years

The Kalatuwawa reservoir, which is one of the tanks in the Kelani Ganga basin, has started to spill after five years, the Irrigation Department said.

They said the reservoir overflowed due to the high rainfall in the catchment areas of the Kelani Ganga.

The Kalatuwawa reservoir is situated within the Labugama-Kalatuwawa Forest Reserve and is solely used to supply drinking water to Colombo and its suburbs.
