Jagath Samarawickrama to replace Amarakeerthi Athukorala
Jagath Samarawickrama has been appointed to the Ninth Parliament for No. 18 - from the Polonnaruwa District following the death of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Polonnaruwa District Parliamentarian Amarakeerthi Athukorala.
An extraordinary gazette notification was to be issued in this regard yesterday with the instruction of the Elections Commission.
MP Athukorala was found dead with gunshot injuries during the unrest in Nittambuwa on May 9.
