An international-level probe on the Channel 4 disclosure over the Easter Sunday attacks is a must, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa told Parliament today.
“The Sri Lankan government should be ashamed that a disclosure has been made on the Easter Sunday attacks. The government should have come up with a disclosure instead. Accordingly, an international-level probe on the Channel 4 disclosure is a must,” Mr. Premadasa said.
“One Minister said today that Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcom Ranjith could have been involved in the attacks. The Minister has insulted the Cardinal though this statement. The Minister also said that the Cardinal had asked the people to vote against me. There is no issue with this,” he added. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

Two days later Channel 4 uses a former Rajapakse govt ex LTTE cadres (Tamil) ministers staff member (Mr Maulana - Muslim?) to confess that he is the one who organsied the bomber for the Rajapakes. All this happening at a time then the SLPP is looking for avenues to divide the country on racial terms to face next elections. Is Channel 4 actually working for a Rajapakse strategic agenda?

Instead of just making statements in Parliament, as the Leader of the Opposition you should consider it your responsibility to get the international probe initiated. Almost five years has elapsed. If not for this Channel 4 exposure, the issue would have continued to be dormant except for the Catholic Church which keeps this drastic attack in the limelight.

@ Correct Sajith Premadasa. we need international probe for this and be brave and say likewise, we need an international probe too for the war ended in 2009 too. There were horrible deaths (thousands) from armed forces aerial bombardments and artillery fire and other war crime allegations including forced disappearances, whose loved ones are longing for justices. Sri Lanka's Missing Persons Unit is not doing its jobs properly.

I'm all in for Sajith's proposal for the International investigation. The Easter bombing was hatched by security officials loyal to the Rajapakse clan. This was an open secret the day "Islamic Militants" were freed after being arrested in Wanathivillu training ground. The lives of 280 mostly Roman-Catholics and of course, the Tourists were sacrificed so, MR could become the "TOUGH" President. My sincere condolences as a Sri-Lankan and human being to the families who have lost their loved ones. Irreplaceable loss. Shame indeed!
